FAQs

What are the standard mug styles?

There are three mug shapes Roosevelt, Original and Barrel.  Each shape comes in smooth or hammered finish. Other options include Steins, Wine Cups, Rolys, Flutes, Juleps and Tumblers.

What is the difference between 16oz Solid Copper mugs and 12oz Copper Plated mugs?

Solid copper mugs are 16oz and copper throughout.  The exterior is coated with a food-safe lacquer to protect the finish, while the interior remains unlacquered to preserve the authentic benefits of drinking from copper. In contrast, copper-plated mugs are 12oz stainless steel with a thin layer of copper applied to the outside. This is a lower cost alternative to the solid copper mugs.

What is the difference in the engraving between made-to-order/production-engraved and in-stock/machine-engraved mugs?

Made-to-order mugs are engraved during the production of the mug using a chemical etching process. The engraving is molded into the surface of the mug. In-stock mugs are engraved using a diamond tip engraving machine.  With a machine, the engraving is etched into the very top surface of the mug.

Can I use my own design/logo for the engraving?

Yes, we can accept most file types, including JPEG, PDF, PNG, and EPS. High-res vector images work best for engraving. Please note that shading and color do not translate to engraving. Clear lines and defined shapes will produce the best results.

For tips, tricks and additional information regarding engravings, please visit our Engraving FAQ page.

What fonts are available for text engravings?

When adding personalization or plain text, we have several complementary fonts.

How are the mugs packaged?

Made-to-order mugs come individually packaged in a plain, brown kraft gift box. Past clients have used stamps or stickers to customize the gift box. We only offer custom packaging for an additional charge on orders over a quantity of 1,000.

In-stock mugs come packaged in our branded kraft boxes.

A standard carton contains 50 mugs and weighs approximately 27 lbs.

How are hammered mugs engraved?

For made-to-order or production-engraved hammered mugs, the process begins with a smooth mug surface. The logo or design is applied during production, and the mug is then hammered around the engraving so the two details don’t overlap. Our in-stock or machine-engraved hammered mugs are engraved after production, with a machine process that etches directly into the surface and over the hammered detail.

We ship from our warehouse in Denver, CO to US and Canada locations. Shipping is calculated at checkout. For international deliveries, any fees, duties or tariffs collected as a result of the import of our products are the responsibility of the customer.

Rush service is available on made-to-order mugs, which moves your order to the top of the queue and reduces the lead time to approximately 4 weeks.

If you'd like to see a proof, please select that option when ordering. A proof will be emailed to you in 1-2 business days. Please note that delays in approving a proof can impact the order lead time. If you’re not sure which design to choose and would like to see multiple options with your information, we can offer two proofs free of charge. For additional proofs, we charge a design fee of $25.00.  For additional help with proofs, please email us at info@coppermugs.com.
